ACPI appears to make the HP Compaq 6910p crash when you close the lid.

This appears to be easily resolved by setting /proc/acpi/video/C098/DOS to 1.

 echo 1 > /proc/acpi/video/C098/DOS

And you’re done. It stopped my laptop crashing anyway.
