Flat Update

You can tell you’re behind on any form of blog when you have to do 3 posts in one day just to catch up.

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago, I moved into a flat in Latymer Court, Hammersmith, London.

Everything seemed fine for a couple of days (I’ll spare you the rant about how moving in didn’t go exactly to plan, but it took slightly longer than expected) and I was told that the flat was going to have all the carpets removed and the floor sanded/varnished the first weekend I was there. I had been expecting this, since I was warned about it, so I made sure I was away that weekend. Everything was left in boxes out of the way.

Sunday evening comes, and there are no carpets anywhere in the flat. This is good. However, only one of the rooms had had the floor sanded, all the furniture was either in the kitchen or in the small loo, and my bedroom had 3 beds in it… on their sides.

Everything remained in boxes for a week, as there was nowhere to put anything.

I returned to the flat yesterday at 5:30pm to be told that I couldn’t come in since they were sanding the floors. They said that they would be finished by 7:30pm, and that they would be coming back today to varnish the floor. The floor should be finished by Sunday at around 7pm.

This morning, at 11am, the workmen arrived. One of them said that they would call me when the flat was safe to use, which is nice, and apparantly everything should be finished today.

All that is left to be done is to have the kitchen re-fitted or something like that… As you can tell, I’m clearly looking forward to that.

Now, to unpack everything from boxes and to put a bed back in my room… That should be fun…
